The Gift Shop Manager represents CDA Summer Theatre and provides a professional gift shop experience for patrons, volunteers and other CDA Summer Theatre staff while maintaining integrity with the resources necessary to do the job. Responsibilities include leading the Gift Shop team to create a professional, clean, pleasing and profitable experience for patrons, as well as verification of financial transactions, cash handling and management, inventory control, and setup and takedown. Successful candidates will have retail and cash management experience, be outgoing and engaging with patrons, able to make quick decisions under pressure and remain calm and professional in stressful situations. Availability for dates throughout the entire summer season (June 16 through August 17) is required. This position mainly will work nights and weekends. The Gift Shop Manager will report directly to the House Manager.

Coeur d’Alene Summer Theatre is seeking individuals with excellent communication skills and cash handling and merchandise experience, who are physically able to stand for long periods of time and bend and lift 50 lbs on occasion. Successful candidates will assist the Gift Shop Manager with the daily Concessions and Merchandise Operations of the Gift Shop with the goal of helping guests enhance their performance experience with additional opportunities to purchase show merchandise and concessions. Successful candidates will be comfortable interacting with multiple types of patrons, be friendly and outgoing, and detail oriented. Professional appearance and excellent customer service are a must. Availability for dates throughout the entire summer season (June 16 through August 17) is required. This position mainly will work nights and weekends. The Retail Assistant will report directly to the Gift Shop Manager.

The Usher/Monitor position is a vital part of the front of house team at Coeur d’Alene Summer Theatre. Successful candidates will assist the House Manager with the daily Front of House Operations with the goal of assuring a positive, comfortable, and safe theater experience for all guests from their arrival until departure. Responsibilities include coordinating volunteer helpers under the direction of the House Manager and Assistant House Manager, maintaining security protocols set by the Theater and the Company, assisting guests with seating, directions, answering questions, and maintaining a safe environment for all patrons. Availability for important dates throughout the summer is essential, as is the ability to remain calm under pressure and remain comfortable and professional in stressful situations. This position will mainly work nights and weekends.

The Spotlight Operator utilizes a follow spot located in the catwalks of the ceiling. The Spotlight Operator must have laser focus to keep an eye on their target in the prescribed color, size, and angle. They need to be able to keep track of actors movements, and make adjustments as directed. As this person’s workspace is in the ceiling of the building, it is recommended they not have a fear of heights. Though safe and in harness, the workspace is high up and open. The Spotlight Operator reports directly to the Stage Manager and then the Production Manager.

The Sound Designer is responsible, globally, for all audio aspects of a production, including the design concept and collection/creation of all sound effects, the rare use of canned music when appropriate, and the mix of all microphone amplification for any voices or instrumentation. All of this will be provided on time and within a prescribed budget. The Sound Designer is responsible for ensuring the sound console has an effective mix and is fully programmed with all cues prior to final dress rehearsal. This position has a team of two crew members who report to them. The Sound Designer reports directly to the Technical Director and the Director of Sound, and then the Production Manager.

The Sound Operator is responsible for executing the audio experience created by the Sound Designer. They are required to check and confirm that all gear is functioning with appropriate output/results. The Sound Operator will be required to troubleshoot any issues with the audio equipment, including signal path, connections, speaker blow-outs, amplifier issues, etc. The Sound Engineer has one Audio 2 crew member who reports to them. The Sound Engineer reports directly to the Sound Designer, and then the Stage Manager.

The Audio 2 assists the whole sound team to install, wire, and test the audio system. During tech and production, the primary duties of the Audio 2 include preparing, distributing, and maintaining microphones for cast members. During tech rehearsals and performances, they will also manage audio equipment backstage and troubleshoot any issues that arise. As a member of the Sound Department, the Audio 2 is responsible for the upkeep and use of microphones, speakers, headset/radio systems, and the audio system. The Audio 2 reports directly to the Sound Engineer and then the Assistant Stage Manager.

The Deck Crew is responsible for learning and expertly executing scene shifts during performances, including moving scenery, props, and actors on and off stage. This position is also responsible for the SAFETY and cleanliness backstage. They will set props, scenery, and set dressing in a way that it can be stored for use while providing a SAFE walkspace for the performing company. To ensure a SAFE onstage experience, the Deck Crew will sweep and mop the stage and wing space daily. The Deck Crew reports directly to the Assistant Stage Manager and then the Stage Manager.

The Properties Assistant assists the Properties Master by gathering, preparing, maintaining, and managing props throughout a production. Following direction and guidance from the Properties Master, they will acquire props, build simple items, clean, repair, and ensure props are correctly placed on stage during technical rehearsals and performances. The Properties Assistant is a support role to ensure the smooth operation of the properties department. This role is required to be backstage during the run of the shows. The Properties Assistant reports directly to the Properties Master and then to the Assistant Stage Manager.

The Technical Director is responsible for overseeing all technical aspects of a production, including set construction, lighting, sound, rigging, wardrobe, and properties, ensuring the smooth execution of designs by collaborating with designers, managing technical crews, maintaining theatre equipment, and coordinating all technical elements during rehearsals and performances to achieve the artistic vision of the production within production deadlines. The Technical Director attends all production meetings and technical rehearsals. The Technical Director works closely with the Business Manager to ensure all departments are operating within budget. All designers report to this position. The Technical Director reports directly to the Production Manager and then the Artistic Director.

The Stage Manager is responsible for ensuring a smooth and productive rehearsal and tech process and executing a successful performance process The Stage Manager is expected to prepare the rehearsal space for safe and productive rehearsals and keep detailed notes as the show evolves, including blocking, props and costume tracking, scenic transitions, and other show-specific details. The Stage Manager is expected to call cues during performance for lighting, audio, atmospheric, and automation departments that accurately reflect the vision of the directors and designers. Throughout the process, the Stage Manager is expected to effectively maintain the flow of communication between the rehearsal room, performance space, and all members of the creative team, cast, crew, and administration departments. Through successful communication, all will be given accurate and timely updates regarding design concept adjustments, meeting notes, show needs, schedules, and issues to be solved. The Assistant Stage Manager, Actors, and Crew report to this position. The Stage Manager directly reports to the Production Manager.

The Assistant Stage Manager manages the back-stage area as the eyes, ears, hands and voice of the Stage Manager during production. This invaluable person relays all cues to the back-stage crew, liaises with actors before and during the show, and relays information to the Stage Manager so they can make an informed decision. The Assistant Stage Manager is required at all rehearsals to aid the Stage Manager in the task of providing a safe space for productive rehearsal. The Youth Cast Manager ensures the care, professional behavior and well-being of our youngest stars – the minors performing on stage who are under eighteen years of age. The Scenic Artist translates a set designer's vision into reality by physically painting and texturing scenic elements (I.E. backdrops, set pieces, and set dressing) using various painting techniques to create realistic or stylized environments on stage, often including color mixing, surface preparation, and applying textures to achieve the desired aesthetic for a production. Creates the visual environment of a scene by placing and arranging furniture, props, curtains, pictures, and other decorative elements on stage, ensuring the set accurately reflects the play's time period and setting according to the director's vision, while primarily focusing on items that actors do not directly interact with The Scenic Artist works closely with the Technical Director and Production Manager to execute the design within production deadlines and budgets. This position reports directly to the Technical Director.

The Scenic Carpenters build and install scenery for theatrical productions, working closely with Set Designer and Technical Director to interpret technical drawings and fabricate scenic elements using a variety of woodworking techniques, including cutting, shaping, and assembly to create the desired set piece. They typically work in a dedicated scene shop and may also assist with set installation and strike on stage during production runs. This position reports directly to the Scenic Designer and then the Technical Director. Roles within this position include Lead Carpenter, Deck (on-call) Carpenter (utilized for repairs between performances), and General Carpenters.

The Wardrobe Stitcher creates and alters costumes for a production, following the Costume Designer's vision and technical renderings, and meeting production deadlines. The Wardrobe Stitcher may be required to assist in fittings and take notes during dress rehearsals. The Wardrobe Stitcher reports directly to the Costume Designer and then to the Technical Director.

The Wardrobe Dresser has a primary function of preparing the costumes daily for use in performance and to aid the cast in quick changes. In addition, they will oversee all costume needs before, during, and after performances. This is the off-stage support crew for costume maintenance and costume organization backstage and in the dressing rooms. The Wardrobe Dresser is responsible for affecting repairs to costumes and reporting any issues that require a larger fix or different solution than minor repair. The Wardrobe Dress reports directly to the Costume Designer and then the Assistant Stage Manager.

The Laundry Attendant is responsible for the cleanliness and freshness of all costume items. They are responsible for washing, sorting, drying, and folding/hanging costumes and other theatrical fabrics, ensuring they are properly cared for and ready for performances. The Laundry Attendant often uses their keen eye for detail and knowledge of different fabric types to prevent damage. The Laundry Attendant reports to the Costume Designer and then the Production Manager.
