As we wrap up another unforgettable summer, Coeur d'Alene Summer Theatre is thrilled to present She Loves Me, a romantic musical comedy that’s the perfect capstone to our 2025 season. Inspired by the same play as the beloved film You've Got Mail starring Tom Hanks and Meg Ryan, this charming production brings mistaken identities, love letters, and timeless melodies to the stage from August 8–17, 2025.
Set in a 1930s European perfumery, She Loves Me follows shop clerks Amalia and Georg, who clash by day but unknowingly exchange heartfelt letters through a "lonely hearts advertisement." Their journey to uncover their secret admirers is filled with witty twists and heartfelt charm. Rated G for all audiences, this intimate musical features music by Jerry Bock and Sheldon Harnick (known for Fiddler on the Roof) and a book by Joe Masteroff (Cabaret). Based on Miklós László’s play Parfumerie—also the source for You've Got Mail—She Loves Me earned five Tony Award nominations in 1964. Widely celebrated as one of the most charming musicals ever written, it blends old-world elegance with modern humor.
This production follows the resounding success of our earlier 2025 shows, Hello, Dolly! and Anastasia. Audiences raved about Hello, Dolly!, calling it “one of your best productions EVER!” with “spectacular” sets and choreography, and praising lead Krista Kubicek as Dolly, who “couldn’t have been better.” Anastasia left theatergoers spellbound, described as “incredible” with “phenomenal” voices and “stunning vocals” that captivated audiences. She Loves Me promises to continue this tradition of excellence, bringing the same passion and polish to the stage.
Directed and choreographed by Gary John LaRosa, with musical direction by Scott Michaelsen, She Loves Me stars Chloe Sundet as Amalia Balash and Jesse Hampsch as Georg Nowack. The cast includes Amy D’Orazi (Ilona Ritter), Anders Karl Haglund (Arpad Laszlo), Michael K. Hynes (Mr. Maraczek), Sam Stickels (Steven Kodaly), Daniel J. Bell (Ladislav Sipos), and featured violinist Richard Altenbach. The ensemble features Alyssa Day, Adele Trapp, Becky Brilliant, Sydney Glover, Tamara Schupman, Anden J. Leo, Sergio Dijiani, Nick Zimny, and Michael Hamill (Dance Captain).
The production’s creative team brings the story to life with Robin Hill (Stage Manager), Alana Shepherd (Lighting Designer), Nick Thorpe (Manager of Music and Sound), Jeremy Wissing (Sound Designer/FOH Engineer), Erin McSwain (Costume Designer), Michael Brandt (Scenic Designer/Technical Director), and Carrie York (Props Designer). ASL interpreters Timothy Madsen and Savannah Johnson will provide services for the August 10th performance, ensuring accessibility for all.
